You Know You're Getting Old When You Start Carrying Your Own Sugar

I was at Dunkin' Donuts the other day ordering an iced latte. As I was searching through my wallet - the beautiful little leather pouch I purchased in Florence, Italy - for my money and my Dunkin' Frequent Visits Rewards card, a handful of Splenda packets spilled out onto the counter.

"Oh, my grandma carries Splenda in her wallet!", said the fledgling behind the counter.

I smiled a stiff, I-hate-you-and-want-to-strangle-you-with-my-purse-strap smile, handed her my money, thanked her, and left.

Holy shit, if that didn't make me feel old. What's next, tissues up my sleeves??

My wife carries Splenda too. Better that the days when she carried ketchup, mayo, mustard packs, etc!!!

When the "blue hair" starts, then you know you've. Gone over the edge..

It happens oh so slowly, a gray hair here, a wrinkle there, everyone starts to look like they are 12 including your doctor and dentist, people call you ma'am, you start to pick up sugar packets because you are set in your ways and must have what you need, and then you realize, holy crap, I am on the downhill slide. The good news is, 20 per cent off Denny's with an AARP card. Gave me an ear to ear grin. It was like the happiest day of my life since, well since a long time. But you are a little young for this road, hide the Splenda. LOL.
