Fast Food Of The Civilized

You know you're close to California when you find an In-N-Out burger that's so packed you have this many people working the line.  Ed took this photo while he was waiting.

People wait in insanely long lines for these burgers.  Truth be told, I'm not a fan.  It's been a very long time since we've last had one so I sorta forgot I didn't like them so much.

I think my top burger place is
Smashburger, followed closely by Five Guys.  In-N-Out doesn't even make my list.

But after being stuck in the middle of nowhere Nevada for the past week, I probably would've eaten cardboard on a bun.

Happy to be back to civilization.

I like In 'N Out Burgers. With grilled onions.

Not their fries, though.

I like how clean and organized the restaurants are, and how well the staff work together.

Think the company is still private, and hope it stays that way. Too much revision to the mean once companies go public -- mediocrity calling.

Will have to try Smashburger and Five Guys. Trust your judgment there!

PS: What about Steak and Shake? Have friends who swear by them.

BELLDOG: Yeah, I don't like their fries either...they have a weird coating. And really not in love with their burgers either. Even with grilled onions.

I like Steak and Shake - they have a good burger and their fries are okay. They're REALLY skinny shoestrings, which I don't love. I almost forgot about Culver's. LOVE their burgers and their fries - crinkle cut - are great.

I'd have to say my top five fast food burger chains are:

1. Smashburger
2. Five Guys
3. Culver's
4. Steak and Shake
5. Wendy's (since they're everywhere)
