The Gold On The Hill

This week I drove through a place where I used to live ten years ago - Radcliff, Kentucky - the home of Fort Knox.  This is a photo taken from Dixie Highway, of where the gold is stored.

What people may not know, is that the gold isn't actually at Fort Knox, it's at the United States Bullion Depository, which sits adjacent to the military installation.  It's on Gold Vault Road and Bullion Boulevard.  Cool address, huh?

No visitors to the bullion depository are permitted.  No exceptions.

So as far we know, the gold is still there.

In the self storage business, we have encountered such cool addresses that sometimes you wouldn’t imagine what the people who coined such addresses were imagining. We once delivered portable pods to an address Taylor Avenue, and it was known that tailors used to line up the streets.
