Her Happiness Is OUR Reward

"Happiness is a virtue, not a reward."
~ Baruch Spinoza, Dutch Philosopher

Today is my mother's birthday.  This is a picture of her from September 1946.  She was four years old.

Even at four years old she was happy in the morning.  She's like that to this day.

And just like in this photo, you'll find her most mornings in her bathrobe and slippers.  Filled with joy.

There hasn't been a day where I've been in her company that she wasn't happy when she woke up.  Even if she's tired.  Even if she's in pain.  Even if she knows she's facing a busy or challenging day ahead.

If you're not a morning person, she might annoy you.  She has a signature, sing-song "Good Moooornnniiiing."  It's really cheery.  Disney cheery.

So good morning to you, Mommy.

And Happy Birthday!!
