X Marks The Imaginary Spot

Another fantastic and completely Original Palm Sketch by Salena. I dug this one out because Ed's newfound hypocondria has him convinced that because I'm coughing all over the truck, he now has a sore throat.

Oh. My. God. Can you BE more of a drama queen? Granted, I'm feeling a little sneezy, but I think it's just something in the air. I'm the one who feels a little on the shitty side and he's the one crying for the slippery elm.

He's even got my mother, who is two thousand seven hundred thirty nine miles away, convinced that he needs a cup of hot tea with honey and lemon. She always takes his side though; I could be hacking up a hairball on the floor and she'd step over me to bring "Sweet Eddie" a cup of hot tea.

My response to Ed's drama?

Breathing all over his cell phone.

Just How I Like It...Cold And Colder

As we travel from hot to cold, hot to cold, I thought it would be an appropriate time to dig up another Original Palm Sketch by Salena.

Why post an actual picture of us when I can give you this - a drawing of exactly what we look like as we traverse the highways and bi-ways of this nation. (OK, maybe it's not so exact since we're both super skinny here, but really, have you ever seen a fat stick figure??)

Eddie Palm Sketch Friday

Seems like it's time for another Palm Sketch post. This one is perfect because it's an exact depiction of Eddie while sleeping. Eyes closed, all serene and stuff. The only difference between this picture and the actual Eddie, is the beard. Why? Because he recently shaved it.

This is the last known sketch of him with facial hair. I tried to do a current one, but I had a really hard time replicating the razor stubble.

Back to the drawing board.

Eddie Is He Wearing Trousers?? Friday

It's been a while since I've done a Palm Sketch post, so here's one from when Eddie and I were playing hangman.

The stick figure with the pants on was a dead giveaway but Ed still couldn't figure it out! I'll cut him a break though since practically not a soul uses the word "trouser" anymore.

Apparently, The Only Time I Lean To The Right Is In My Sleep And Unwillingly

It's been a while since I've unveiled one of the Original Palm Sketches By Salena, but now seems to be the perfect time to do so since last night we had a repeat of the very day I drew the following sketches.

Ed was tired and pulled over to rest for the night. I was already asleep. If he doesn't wake me up with all the noise he makes while getting ready for bed, he is sure to wake me me in some other manner. Last night it was because he parked like this:

It's not noticeable if you're already asleep and I vaguely remember waking and him saying something like, "We're parked on a slight incline." I am sure I mumbled "okay" and went back to sleep, but sometime in the middle of the night I noticed myself scooting my body up toward the head of the bed. My feet kept hitting the other wall, which never happens since I am shorter than the bunk, and I immediately stirred because I hate when my feet touch anything while I'm sleeping.

A few hours later, the same thing; scooting my body up. I was snuggled up against Ed's back and I noticed that rather than spooning him with his butt in the crook of my crotch area (for lack of better description), his butt was now grazing my belly. WTF? H
e seemed to be staying in one place (how, I don't know) but I repeatedly found myself practically crawling back up, one little scooch at a time.

When I got up this morning to drive (leaving Ed sleeping), the incline of the truck caused me to lose my balance. I was a half awake and forgot about the lean, and since I wasn't holding on to anything, I wound up falling right on my ass.

This second picture is what I look like while sleeping (and yes, I sleep just like that, sans any clothing save undies, and with a frown on my face): What is not accurate about this picture (that I drew, no less) are the perky breasts (mine do not stand up like that while sleeping), the pert ass (mine does not hold my body up buoyantly) and the flat stomach (although, it is a lot flatter when I'm lying down - right girls?). But my hair does look like that while I'm snoozing and I do have very slender arms.

Time Isn't The Only Thing That Flies When You're Having Fun

This Original Palm Sketch by Salena depicts the action that takes place every time our path crosses a casino. Whether it be Wendover, Reno, Las Vegas, Atlantic City or any small Indian reservation across that land that allows for gambling, the result is usually the same.

It all begins with the words, "We'll only play twenty dollars" but ends with, "I can't believe we lost that. much. money."

It has wings, I tell you; and takes flight the minute we hit the door.

Flame Sandwich

I bring you another Original Palm Sketch by Salena to celebrate Eddie's incredibly hot body.

That can be taken so many ways, can't it? But it's not what you think. Primarily, I'm talking about the fact that he's a human furnace.

The above sketch depicts what it's like to sleep in the truck with Ed; he throws off so much heat, I'm surprised he doesn't melt the fiberglass on the wall next to him. And when the enging is running, which is all the time since I need to have the air conditioning on, even in the winter, the heat coming off of those 475 horses is enough to make me think about how pleasant it would be to work at a glue factory, sending all 475 of them to the Elmer's bottle. I'm surprised I actually make it through the night without dumping a cup of ice down his boxers. The shrinkage would be wholly deserved.

In the event that Eddie and I sleep in a limited amount of clothing (which for me is almost always, since I hate to be hot) the chance of our skin fusing together if it should touch, is very high. Sometimes in my sleep, I will snuggle up against him and then wake violently in the night to realize that the entire right side of my body is stuck to his, from shoulder to hip.

I typically have to create a wall of sheets between his skin and mine to prevent this from happening.
Usually it's such a problem, and I do feel bad not wanting to be all lovey-dovey and touchy every minute, but I can't think of any other way to make it through the night. I mean, he'd come in handy if we slept in, I don't know, an Igloo. But we don't.

Although...now that I think of it, we are heading up to Canada* this weekend and they've yet to see warm weather, so maybe he'll come in handy.
* If I don't post for a week or so, it will be either because I can't get on the internet where we'll be, I don't want to pay roaming internet rates on my air card, or I'm just plain lazy. I guess you'll find out more when I return. I hope you'll still be here.

Eddie's Bedtime Snack Friday

This is one of Ed's favorite late night snacks; a carton of milk and one of those Slim-Jim-Beef-Jerky-Dried-Meat-From-A-Woodland-Animal type of culinary treats, depicted in another Original Palm Sketch by Salena.

I don't know how he could sleep after eating this; the only thing I'd be able to think about is throwing up.

How To Entertain Yourself When Hanging Out With Sight Impaired Adults

Oh Happy Day! I bring you another Original Palm Sketch by Salena. This one came about when Eddie broke the glasses he was wearing and had to make a mad blind dash around town looking for a new pair.

The new ones we got him are made of some super bendy high tech material that no matter what you do, you can't break them, which is good since my nephews love to take them off his face and twist them backwards into a circle.

It's a good thing Ed can't see what they're doing.

Eddie Calculates Everything Friday

In honor of Eddie Friday, I bring you another Original Palm Sketch by Salena.

I drew this one because Ed has the calculator in the palm of his hand so often, figuring everything from business expenses to what RV or boat payments would be, that I have taken to calling him "Calcutron".

He's kinda like those Transformer action figures, the ones that change from a warrior into a spaceship, sports car or motorcycle, except my Eddie changes from a regular truck drivin' kind of guy into this Super Nerd on crack. If he had his way, he'd probably have the calculator surgically implanted in the palm of his hand, hidden from the view of mere mortals, to use whenever the mood strikes.

He's really a kind of accounting superhero, if you will, the kind of Super Nerd that never gets the props they deserve. Hence, the homage to him and his hand.

Palm Sketches

As you know, Ed is the King of gadgets, and one of those gadgets is a Palm Pilot. We use the Palm for our GPS, as a calculator, to play solitaire and best of all, for me to sketch!

I sketch something every once in a while and to date, have about forty sketches. I'm going to start posting a few of them here and there mostly for laughs, but more importantly, to allow you to witness my sheer artistic genius.

There is a story behind each sketch, a reason I felt the urge to put stylus to screen, if you will. The first time I ever drew, I was experiencing an extreme amount of eye pain. I don't know what happened, either I poked myself in the eye (which would have been dumb) or I got something in it (which sounds more reasonable). It hurt so bad, was watering and I was forced to keep it closed. It felt like someone was poking me in the eye with a knife; so with my one eye closed, I drew my first sketch.

Which brings me to the unveiling of the first of many Original Palm Sketches by Salena...
