The Spotlight Isn't Just On The Community

Waaayyyyy back in February, I woke up to an email in my in-box. It was from the Senior Art Director of Fort Wayne Monthly magazine. She was interested in purchasing some of my photos for the magazine.

What??!! No way, I thought.

But it was real. She wanted MY photos. For HER magazine. Can you freakin' believe that? Needless to say, I was SUPER excited. They were doing a "Community Spotlight" article on Shipshewana, Indiana and she saw some of the pictures I took of things in town, and wanted to use them to illustrate the article.

I immediately wrote back. We exchanged a few emails, I found out she wanted three of my photos to use in four different places in the magazine (one would be used twice), and that I'd get a photo credit under each photo and be listed as a contributing photographer in the magazine. AND I'd get paid. How cool is that?

The pictures were printed in the April 2012 issue, but since we've been on the road I haven't had a chance to see the magazine until now. I've gotta tell you, I really loved seeing my photos in print.

If you want to see them too,
check them out here. You'll find me on the contents page, and then on page 41, 42 and 46.

I feel like I'm in the spotlight too.

SALENA!!! Congratulations! I wondered who the mysterious "paying client" was! This is awesome. I'm so happy for you! I just figured out tonight how to change mine to 300dpi finally. Geez, if I'd only known this two months ago, right?

Thanks, everyone! I'm very excited - it's sort of cool seeing my photo in print!

Belledog: I use this one to take most of my photos: http://www.dpreview.com/products/canon/compacts/canon_sx210is

Only because it's compact and I ALWAYS have it in my purse. It's easy and takes great pictures.

The other one I use is this one:

Also a great camera, but not as compact. I LOVE Canon!
