I posted about these baby doves a week ago, when they were small enough to share the nest and barely had their pin feathers. Now they have full-fledged wings!
I took this photo yesterday and after a few minutes of picture taking they must have felt uncomfortable - mama was giving me the side-eye the entire time - because they all flew away, the babies making a short flight to the ground before they scurried under a bush.
I checked later in the afternoon and noticed they didn't come back. They've flown the coop!
This nest has been used yearly - I've read they sometimes use the same nest or other doves will use an existing nest - so we'll have to wait until next summer to see new white-winged dove babies on our porch.
Have a good life, little ones!
