Mecca Of The Midwest

Navy Pier originally opened in 1916 to be used as a dock for freighters, passenger ships, and events, the 3,300-foot-long pier now houses over 50 acres of shops, restaurants, theaters, etc., and draws over nine million visitors each year.

It's been used for everything from a jail for draft dodgers to a training center for the United States Navy to a classroom for the University of Illinois.  It is one of the most visited attractions in all of the Midwest and it's Chicago's second-most visited tourist attraction.
