Tunnel in North Carolina along I-40, taken in the wee wee wee hours of the morning. This area is SO beautiful, but we rarely get to travel this route for some reason. This is the first time we've been here in years.We went to the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, North Carolina five years ago and I think it's time to go back. I now have a new friend in Black Mountain, NC and I've been wanting to visit Lake Lure and a few other spots for a few years now.
The tunnel itself might not be all that pretty, but what's on either side of it is stunning.
The Appalachian Mountains of western North Carolina should be on everyone's "must see" list.
