Supersonic

We just delivered some aircraft parts to Boeing in Seattle.  We love aircraft parts loads - they're light, and they pay.  And they always need them yesterday, as if they didn't know they needed this part to build the planes they've been building for decades.  Granted, sometimes the parts were just manufactured and they need them right away, but still.  Planning, people.

One of the Boeing facilities we dropped at is in Seattle, near The Museum of Flight.  And at The Museum of Flight is one of the world's fastest jetliners - the British Airways Concorde.  It's one of only twenty ever built, it's the only one on display on the West Coast, and it's one of only four outside of Europe.

It's a pretty spectacular looking aircraft.  It must be wild to fly in it.  It was retired to The Museum of Flight on November 5, 2003.  On its way there, "the Alpha Golf set a New York City-to-Seattle speed record of 3 hours, 55 minutes, and 12 seconds.  Much of the flight was over northern Canada, where it flew supersonic for 1 hour, 34 minutes and 4 seconds."

FYI - Supersonic means faster than the speed of sound.

What?  You're there.  That fast.

Amazing.

I love aviation and if I didn't have such a great job, I'd pull air freight just so I could be around aircraft more often. Love the blog and I look forward to the next post.
