Peering Into The Yonic Wellhole

When we went to Valencia, Spain we stayed with our friends M & G who rented an apartment there for a month.  The building had an elevator and a set of stairs. I didn't mind going down the stairs, but I always used the elevator going up. 

The steps were marble and the stairwell was always empty - we never saw anyone in the building when we came or went.  The tile made everything echo and the entire stair chamber sounded hollow.

I took this photo on one of the days I was waiting at the top for everyone else to climb up to the apartment (since I was already there, having taken the elevator).  And yes, it looks like what you think it looks like.

But it's a cool picture, isn't it?
