Prepping The Butt

Here's Ed, getting the pork butt ready for the smoker.  Upon suggestions from people who've gone before him, he rubbed the butt with mustard, then patted a spice rub over the entire piece of meat.

The pork shoulder was about 10 pounds.  We marveled at the price.  If you know how much it is to get pulled pork (or any barbequed meats) at a restaurant, or place like Dickey's, you know how much of a deal this piece of meat is.  Plus, it's going to provide many meals.

I think Ed's going to try brisket and turkey next, which might be a good plan considering Thanksgiving is coming soon.
