A man in the middle of the road riding a bike and selling fresh roasted peanuts...
It was very overcast and dreary with rain on the way but the mood seemed to fit the landscape....well, until you get to Grosse Pointe that is. That's where the scenery changes from drastic to fantastic; palatial homes, lake views, manicured lawns, paths lined with flowers and a landscaping crew at ever corner.
Night and day, just miles apart.

At least they are all old buildings. The last time we went to Philadelphia I couldn't believe how many of the factories built in the last 30-40 years are empty.
Well, I see Detroit hasn't changed much since I was there last (approx. 4 yrs ago). Actually the run-down buildings with grafitti have been that way since James started driving almost 20 years ago, just different tags and newer boards. Showed James the pics and he agreed that it's night and day but the only thing that's changed is the increased unemployment rates.
this makes me sad.
