SASsy But Comfortable
I've crossed over to the dark side of old lady shoes. WTF?
I always buy cute little ballets-style flats to wear with everything - I have black, beige, coral (for that pop of color!). And I buy them cheap, usually in Payless.
I wear the black ones all the time - I love the little patent leather toe - and the coral ones are my used-to-be favorites.
They tout "all-day comfort" on the website. Which is an evil lie.
They KILL my feet. KILL.
I seriously can't walk the day after a day in these shoes. My feet feel as if they've spent the day river-dancing on concrete.
So I took a trip to the orthotic shoe mecca in Tucson - Alan's Shoes.
My only directive to the salesgirl - "I don't want an old-lady shoe."
A brief look at the shoes on display didn't give me much confidence.
There were a few I liked, which of course they didn't have in stock in my size - TWELVE - but which they said could be ordered.
I was in a rush, running errands when I decided to pop in, so I told her I'd be back when I had more time.
I am determined to find a stylish, comfortable, non-Birkenstock shoe to tool around in.
Until that time, I'm wearing my cushy Havaiana flip-flops and my new Skechers.
I am not ready to join the Orthotic Army.

Fwiw, I love Crocs. They make some cute flats. Good support, can use for extended walking and biking. Totally washable. Inexpensive. Moms hospice nurse wore the same style I do; they're cuter than athletic shoes (and, again, washable). The Crocs ad now concludes.
BELLEDOG: I love Crocs, too! I actually have only purchased the flip-flops and I loved them....until I got a cactus needle in the sole and couldn't get it out. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't pull that thing out - it was firmly stuck in the rubber and I'd only feel it when my weight was on it...so, basically, any time I walked! But they were the most comfy flip-flops I've ever owned and I often think of getting another pair. The only other con - they're very slippery when they get wet or if you happen to have sweaty feet.
