Honoring The Support Of Mexico

This is the first building we saw when our river cruise ship docked in Austria.  It is located on the bank of the Danube River.

The St. Francis of Assisi Church, also known as the Emperor's Jubilee Church and the Mexico Church, is a Basilica-style Catholic church in Vienna, Austria built between 1898 and 1910.

The church sits in a Mexico Square (Mexikoplatz), so named for to honor the support Mexico gave to Austria in 1938 when it was the only country to protest the annexation of Austria by Nazi Germany.

It's three red-tiled towers are visible from several miles away.
