Bursts Of Light And A Bean

We arrived in Chicago late this evening with the plan to catch the fireworks at Navy Pier at 10:15 pm.  We found a great spot to park south of the city and discovered the bike path that follows the shore of Lake Michigan.

This is the path right in front of the Shedd Aquarium, which is where we stopped to watch the fireworks.
Here's a few photos of the shots I got of the fireworks - the city is to the left, the lights jutting out to the right are the Navy Pier, and the fireworks were being shot off from a boat in the water just at the end of the pier area.  Because we got there so late and didn't know where we were going, we didn't want to ride all the way to the pier and miss the show.
Once the show was over, we followed the path to Millennium Park and saw the famous "bean".  The official name of this piece of art is Cloud Gate.  It's extremely cool in person.  I've always wanted to see it and now I can cross it off my list!
We'll explore more tomorrow during the day.  Can't wait to see where the rest of the bike path takes us.

More photos to follow!
