Cowboy Wine Country

On our way to Patagonia this past weekend, we stopped in Sonoita.  Nestled among the rolling hills of Southern Arizona, we traveled past what looked like spacious ranches and saw more than a smattering of pretty big custom homes.

We popped into Sonoita Mercantile - didn't know about the fried chicken mentioned in this article - but did pick up a bottle of Cazzo Piccolo wine, produced by local winery Hops & Vines.

This was a last minute trip, just to take a ride and put some miles on the new pickup, but I think we'll go back at some point to check out the 9 award-winning wineries in the area. Most of them are open 7 days a week and of course, offer tastings.

I'm not a wine drinker, but I can certainly try becoming a wine taster.
