The White Pass & Yukon Route railroad has been around for 125 years and was a product of the Klondike Gold Rush.
Construction on the narrow gauge railroad started in May 1898 to transport miners into the mountains. Within eight months, it completed the 20.4-mile track from Skagway to the White Pass Summit, 2,915 feet in elevation. Read the entire history of this railroad here.
