This is our friend, Mike. He has his own band, The Mike Polletta Trio, but he's also played other gigs with bands around town.
He's very talented, has a wonderful personality, is always warm and friendly, and best of all, he's Italian. I don't know how that has anything to do with his musical skill, but I always like to recognize a fellow paesano.

Every two years, we have to take a class to recertify our hazardous materials endorsement. It's the most boring two days of the year, and if they didn't serve food, I'd probably slice my wrists by mid-morning. I always sit in the back because I like to people-watch, but I can't hear a thing, so I usually just doodle or stare into space while they jabber up front. This year they opted not to use microphones, so it was even worse than usual. It does no good to complain, so I don't. They never teach us anything new, so I'm pretty confident I'm not missing anything useful anyway.
For the past few years, the class has been held at our local casino. Fun, in theory, but ultimately a really bad idea because I wind up going home with less money than I came in with. It's very tempting when the slot machines are right outside the conference room doors.
Time to start saving for 2028!
Another recertification class in the books.
Every two years, Ed and I have to attend a class to update our security clearances, which also includes an online CABS (Continued Awareness of Business and Safety) class and HazMat (Hazardous Materials) certification.
It usually lasts two days; it's extremely boring, but they provide food and drinks, and the last few years it's been held at the conference center of the local casino, so on breaks we have an opportunity to go gamble and lose money.
This year I lost $120.00, but I'm good for another two years!
