On The Brink Of A Duel

These are my mother's cats - Fat Louie on the left and Miss Lili Marlène on the right.  They're having their daily stand-off.  Sometimes they swat at each other, other times they chase each other around furniture, they almost always growl in low guttural tones.  They do this at least once a day, but it's getting better - a few months ago, they wouldn't be in the same room together, let alone sitting on the same bed.  This close.

When they're not staring each other down, they slink around the house, eat, and sleep.

Which is pretty much what Ed and I did today.

It was going to be a cold day here on the coast of Virginia, in the low forties.  We slept late since we didn't have anything planned and putzed around a bit before heading out.  We hit the grocery store, went to Hooter's for lunch (which no one goes to for the food), spent a couple of hours at Barnes & Noble and then headed back to the truck for "Night Owl Cinema" - a phrase Ed coined for our late night movie watching.

Tomorrow we're heading to the aquarium.  Among the river otters, loggerhead turtles, and Komodo dragons we'll be seeing, we also plan on visiting the touring exhibit of Megalodon, the largest shark that ever lived.

I'm hoping it's more exciting than watching cats on the verge of an actual catfight.

Hello to coastal Virginia from mountain Virginia, on the shores of a lake. (Windy with whitecaps today.) At a family reunion of sorts. Enjoyed the drive here along 81 yesterday.

Enjoy President's Day, wherever it finds you.
