Port Townsend Honor System

Walking down the main street in Port Townsend, Washington, I passed this display of old bottles for sale.
There was quite a collection - dirty, clear, red, amber, blue, big, small.  Two bucks, your choice.  Even for the old glass insolators.
'Ol Russ is obviously very trustworthy, because he places a bright orange, hand-lettered metal box on the table next to them.  Slot in the top, padlock on the front.
I didn't buy anything.  I wanted to, but I couldn't think of where I'd make use of a glass bottle in the truck, and although I loved the blue glass insolators which I'd use as a paperweight, I realized I didn't really have any paper to weight down.

Buy me the third teal one in with the flared bottom words showing as 'will.all'...

MAE: It's all yours! I'll swing by there tomorrow and pick it up!

If you're swinging by, may I have the Hemingway teal insulator?

Love those! Have a few, but not that shape.

Salena: the insulators would look beautiful in your garden. People do that all the time, and glass would look wonderful against a desertscape.

Thank you. I love old bottles; what a cool old guy.

Keep shopping for us, will you birthday girl?

Cheers.

Also, do you remember the tree hung with colored bottles from the movie "Ray"? From his childhood home, when Ray Charles could still see (albeit fuzzily).

I'd love to do that, but all our trees are too tall.

Check it out. Good flick. Jamie Foxx earned his Oscar.

Maybe you could bedeck a cactus. Something for the javelinas to wonder at.
