The Cockroach Cowboy

Cockroach Cowboy courtesy of Google Images and Ed and his crafty Photoshop skills.
Ed went for allergy testing today.  It was done in the doctor's office, in less than an hour.

The testing was done by dipping the ends of this contraption into the allergen, then placing it on his back in rows.  Once they were all placed, they waited to see what the reaction was to each allergen.

He also got 41 shots in his arm.  Also in rows, with a number at the top of each row written in ink by the nurse.

When the test was finished, we learned he was allergic to several types of weeds, molds, trees, bushes, and dust mites.

And cats.  Suprisingly not dogs, though.

And cockroaches.

And horses.

I don't know how easy it'll be to know when he's around a tree or bush or weed that's going to bother him, since we're not friggin' botantists and I'm pretty sure he doesn't plan to carry a picture around of something he may have a reaction to, and since they only tested for allergens in this area, it's pretty useless considering we travel all over the United States and at any time he may come into contact with one of these things.

He'd have to go for regular visits to get shots, which will eventually cause an immunity to be built up to whatever he has a reaction to.  The thing is, he's not a sneezy, sniffly, watery eye kind of allergic.  It's more of a sinus pressure thing that causes discomfort.  Once we have another meeting with the doctor, we'll know more about how to proceed.

In the meantime, we'll have to keep him away from cats, horses and cockroaches.

I'm pretty sure that won't be a problem.

Like mother, like son. Sorry, son.
He was here a few years ago when the sage was pollinating and it really caused him some grief. Shots are good. I went that route when he was about 8 and gave my shots myself. Now I haven't taken them in several years but don't have too much trouble with allergies.

Yeah and Dad isn't allergic to ANYTHING. What the heck?!?

Anyway, now they have these drops you put under your tongue every day for 5 years or something.

I find that if I workout every day, most of my symptoms seem to clear up on their own. Must be the body's ability to produce antigens and boost the immune system naturally.

Eliminating dairy can work wonders in clearing up sinus issues. Our son took that advice and he's living proof.
