This iPhone photo isn't nearly as good as the setting sun looked in person, but it was a hot sun. Very orange. Fiery.
When we were kids, my mother used to tell us that a bright orange setting sun meant it was going to be hot the next day.
That old adage doesn't really apply in Tucson, since it's always fairly hot (for me, anyway), but this week it definitely applies. Today hovered around 111 and tomorrow is going to be a blistering 115 degrees.
That's just not normal. Unless maybe if you're in Saudi Arabia.
The steering wheel in the car was so hot today, I burned the prints off three fingers. It's oppressive. The wind is hot, like a blowdryer.
We are almost never here during this time of year. But since we've got this dedicated run, we're only gone two and a half days a week.
It's going to be a brutal summer.
